WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE – FOREIGN

Here in the good ol’ U S of A, my vehicle would be considered “foreign”.   Well, be that as it may,  this American LOVES her “foreign” car.

I first purchased a ’65 foreigner in 1968. It was a blue four-speed VW Bug.  Now that, at the time, was “foreign” to me.  I didn’t know the first thing about driving that thing.  But I took to the hills, literally, and learned real fast about how to use an emergency break when the nose of my stick shift sweety was pointed at a 30 degree angle.

Since then, I’ve owned a ’61 bug, a 70 Karmen Ghia, a 64 VW bus (ahhhhh, memories!) and now, introducing, ta-da, my lastest “foreign’ car – my 2003 VW convertible beetle.  Ain’t she sweet?  🙂

And this girl goes nowhere without her trusty sidekick, Minkey the monkey.  I’m not sure, but I think he might be foreign, too.  He’s got that adorable, exotic, dark, handsome look about him.  😆

WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLANGE – HAPPY

It’s odd that “happy” is the photo challenge for this week.  Ironic, I guess you might say.  It’s been a difficult week for our family because we lost one of our precious pets yesterday.

Marshall was a dear, sweet lug of a dog.  He was loving, and warm, and had the softest ears ever :-).

This was Marshmallow Man when he first came into our lives. That was a happy day, indeed.

Marsh spent 13 1/2 years with us.  He’s been a part of , and the cause of, many happy days.  Now we have memories, and as sad as it is that he’s physically gone, those memories will always bring a smile to my face.

I know the hurt lessens, but for right now “happy” is a little tougher than it was two days ago.  I’m kind of glad this was the challenge offered up by WordPress this week.  It gave me the chance to pay tribute to Marsh and to thank him for a whole lot of happiness.  Love you, Marshmallow Man.

“Happy” manifests itself in many ways.  Click here (WordPress) for more.  Enjoy.

For those of you who will stop by, like, comment, or just browse, thank you.  I appreciate the visits.  They make me happy. 🙂

SUNDAY POST – DELICIOUS

This was way too easy.  At present, I am dieting (this is an on again, off again thing with me).  But I am not depriving myself of things I love. I am just consuming them, as mom would say, in moderation.  So I made this delicious Naan bread pizza that I found in a magazine, and this yummy delish salad that I saw at a salad bar.  And here you have it.  Delicious.
It started with sauted spinach and mushrooms, cooked in a garlic basting oil…

I whipped up a little home made sauce, spread that on the Naan bread – which is something new to me – tossed the spinach and mushroom over it, and topped it with fresh mozzarella.  A little sea salt and freshly ground pepper, then into the oven at 425 degrees.

The salad is simple.  Romaine hearts, cut length-wise and then use your imagination.  Olives, feta, tomatoes, roasted peppers, peppers – you decide.  I like a fig balsamic vinegar drizzled on top, but that is also your call.

After about 15 long, L-o-n-g minutes, voila!

Delicious!

Oh!  Don’t forget the Yuengling – your choice, of course :-).  That’s not part of the diet, but, everything in moderation :-D.

SUNDAY POST – FAVORITE SPOT

Hmmmm. If you have truly been a follower, then you’ll not have to guess. If you know anything at all about  me, you know my favorite spot can only be *drum roll*…

Yes, you guessed it.

THE BEACH!

The Beach.  Where I can walk, feeling the sand and waves squish through my toes.

Where I can bird watch,

People watch,

Or watch as a father teaches his son to shoot the curls. 🙂

But the best watching being done at My Spot was that of the dancing of the dolphins.  Sadly, I have yet to get a fabulous shot of these graceful creatures, but still, it was fun trying.  Believe it or not, I actually starting jogging down the beach in order to keep up with them, trying to get the perfect ‘pose’.  Not an easy feat for these old feet.  Either I was exhausted by the uncharacteristic dash down the dunes or those guys are just too fast for me.  This was the best I could do – for now.

Any season, any time, the beach is my favorite spot.  Can you blame me?

I’ve enjoyed taking you on a tour of my favorite spot.   Stop by Jakesprinters for more great pix.
