My mom, as you might know if you’re following me, is 90 years old. She is blessed enough to be able to take care of herself but at least 4 or 5 days a week I will sit with her and play a game or two of cards. She loves 500 Rum and, no, I don’t let her win. Sometimes you bite the bear, and sometimes the bear bites you. Luck of the draw and all that.
This is the view I take in as I deal, and yes I always deal. Twisting medicine bottle caps and dealing are not her forte, but she still darns my socks and hems my jeans. π There are times she has to remind me that it’s my turn. The view is simple, but the cloud formations and the position of the sun are constantly changing and this tends to mesmerize me. Enjoy the view. It won’t last long.
Stop over at Dawn’s for a lingering look of her wonderful windows and other entries as well.
Thanks for visiting. I appreciate that you dropped by. π
Lovely post, Gemma!
Thanks, RS. π
That’s a very compelling view. Great to daydream, but DON’T!! Next thing you know, Lilly will start beating you at every game. You’ll be off in deep thought, and she’ll have cards up her sleeve, be smoking cigars, and whatnot!
Haha. I do actually remember her smoking a cigarette once. Is that the Lilly you know?
Gemma that’s a great perspective all round .. the view you have outside and the view you take on making some fun with your Mum !
Thanks poppy. She named me Gemma, but she’s the gem! π
Awesome! not just your window but the story of the time spent with Mom and your edit. Love the last line, it’s a metaphor for life.
Ain’t that the truth! Make the best of it while it lasts. π
lovely photo and story
Thank you, JohnandMary. π
Beautiful window photo. Thank you for sharing the wonderful story!
And thanks for visiting π
That’s a blessing to have this long long relationship with your mother. I hope my sons will visit me four times a week when I’m 90.
Yes, I know and Iβll bet they will. Enjoy the journey, Trish.

Lovely view but as Genevive commented don’t get too absorbed in the view, I had a Mother lived into her 90’s and was sharp as a tack and lived in her own home to the end and when we played cards, scrabble etc she would always take any opportunity to get one step ahead… π Enjoy your special time with your Mother.
She does give me a run for my money, pommepal. That’s for sure. Thanks for the visit and the good advice. π
You’re a good daughter. : )
π
God bless both of you.
What could be more wonderful than a mother and a daughter enjoying one another’s company —
Not so frequent as might be supposed.
It’s priceless. π
It is a beautiful view… π
Thanks, Eliz. π
Gorgeous view, Gemma. You and your mom sound like best friends. π
Sometimes yes. Sometimes not so much. Nature of the familial beast. But it’s all good. It’s all for a reason. I just need to enjoy the view. π
I understand that. π
A beautiful view indeed. I think you should position your mom so that she too gets carried away by the view!! Then you can both dream for a bit π
Lovely post.
She was just commenting how she loves the view herself! Lol. Have you been peeking through the window? π
Well, you just never can tell! π
Lol π
