“Earth laughs in flowers”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
If you don’t keep flowers in your house, you might want to think about it. I’ve always had plants, but lately I’ve been keeping flowers in our bedroom. They are the first thing I see when I get up, and if Earth laughs in flowers, well, flowers make me smile – every morning.
Stop off and smell the roses at Jake’s blog by clicking on the icon below. And smile. 🙂
My sentiments exactly. Flowers just make happiness! There is never a day that I don’t see fresh flowers on my dining room table. This is a less expensive proposition since I retired. There used to be fresh flowers at home AND at school. $$$
So that’s where I learned it from! 😉 ❤️
If I could just keep the cats from playing with them…
Haha! Worth finding a solution for that. 😉
I love cut flowers! I can’t always afford them but if you want to give me a cheap easy Valentine gift, cut flowers is the ticket!
When things are right, I buy the $3.99 version at the market and they last about a week and a little more. Not a bad investment. 🙂
I think the cheapest around here is closer to $10.00. I get them sometimes but not now…OMG…I can barely afford wine!!! lol
Have I told you lately I hate winter…
$10.00? OMG!
And Jeff texted me tonight and told me winter sucks. You two would get along famously. 😉
P.S. If you were here we could GIVE you wine!
Don’t tempt me! My siblings encourage me to move closer to them (in PA). “No!” I shout. “I hate winter. I am not moving north only south.”
Not for siblings.
Not for wine.
That last sentence was hard to type,;)
You’re a trip!
Full of myself, is what I am.
I always keep fresh flowers Gemma! This purple knocked me off my chair! Nice work ( also love the header )
That color just rocks my socks off! Thanks, Kathryn.
The header? Last summer, brigantine beach. My place of peace.☮
L O V E IT!
P.S. I’ve seen the posts with your house and noticed the flowers. Love it!
I try but traveling makes it difficult . Currently my Quince is growing like CRAZY! I did not expect it!
Maybe some things don’t need as much TLC. 😉
Evidentially Quince needs nothing!
Ha! Kind of like our cat. Indifferent! 😉
Yes cats are like that. I would like a Siamese I think…
Beautiful flowers…and my favorite quote, too. When the earth laughs in flowers, we all return the happiness in laughter, or at least hopeful smiles.
That’s what I’m talkin’ about!
🙂 🙂 🙂
Love these flowers, Gemma!!! They’re just delightful, aren’t they? 😀
Yes, Cathy. They are. Thanks for stopping by. Hope you and your family are well.
Love the colours Gemma. Great shots and entry hon. 😀
🙂
Gosh Gemma .. haven’t seen Christmas Cactus for a long time ! Very pretty love those candy stripes .
Candy stripes?! I didn’t know that! Live and learn, every day. :-). I bought the Christmas cactus on a whim and then, BAM! Beautiful pink flowers. Awesome!
Thanks, poppy.
love all flowers, we either have them in the house from our garden or purchased at Supermaxi. The cost is minimal , $2.50 for a mixed bouquet up to $5.00 or so for a dozen roses.
Very reasonable price to pay so that you can pin a smile on your face in the morning. Especially on these cold, snowy days. Except today. It is a balmy 48 degrees F.

Summer right in the middle of winter! Love that burst of colours 🙂
Much needed.
Much appreciated. 🙂
What a fabulous “zap” of colour, Gem! Completely missed Jake until yesterday, but it’s not Sunday again for a day or two(is it???) 🙂
There’s time 😉
Thanks, Jo.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful post Gem 🙂
😉
Good pictures, Gem – I have no plants or flowers in the house, but my wife has many orchids, which are certainly beautiful. A xxx
Thanks, Adrian. Orchids are fabulous, too. ATP xxx
Seeing flowers every day certainly lifts the spirit.
