CEE’S BLACK AND WHITE PHOTO CHALLENGE – WATER – From a Drop to an Ocean

A visit from family. A trip to the Philadelphia Zoo. A fabulous, warm, autumn day. And a chocolate ice cream cone. These all made for an incredibly fun Saturday.
The bears have their own waterfall. If it were me living there, I’d be frolicking in that pool. It was toasty yesterday.
A look at the bear’s digs from the other side of the glass.

SHARE YOUR WORLD 2014 – WEEK 38

Sharing…
If you could be a tree or plant, what would you be?

A big, strong, sturdy tree.

PICTURE TAKEN BY MY FAVORITE FIVE YEAR OLD FRIEND.

PICTURE TAKEN BY MY FAVORITE FIVE YEAR OLD FRIEND.

If you could have a servant come to your house every day for one hour, what would you have them do?

Someone please come do my blinds!  I HATE cleaning blinds.  I’ll take care of the rest.

If you could have an endless supply of any food, what would you get?

Tough one. Right this minute, I’d have to say polenta and grits.

What was one of your first moneymaking jobs (other than babysitting or newspaper delivery)?

I worked for a supermarket chain when I was 16.  Checker. Back in the day, when you actually punched in the amount manually on the cash register ( no scanning) and had to count change in your head (no computers!)  OMG! And when you bagged, you didn’t put the cans on top of the eggs,  (Think about this: my first complete – yes I said complete! order at that store,  when I first married (at age 19) included everything from salt, pepper, aluminum foil, meat, fruit, veggies and more – came to under $43!   Yes. I am that old.) It was called Grand Union.  Don’t know if they even exist anymore. But I’d work there again if we could do it that way.

Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I’m grateful for the opportunity to see family this week.  They live far and we don’t see them often.

Friday we are going to see Foreigner at the Borgata Casino.  An early birthday gift from Jeff.  I enjoy the singing, clapping, and dancing in my seat.  We don’t do that very often so it’s special for me. So I’m looking forward to that.

CEE’S WHICH WAY CHALLENGE – 2014 #12

I headed into the trees, down the brown, leafy path. Enveloped in overgrown greenery. Bumps and stumps jumping out in front of me along the narrow trail.  My intention, to escape.  To find solitude in the depths of the woods.  To find peace in the whisper of the leaves and the skittering of the  squirrels. At least I hoped it was squirrels.  It wasn’t long before I saw him. Encircled in sun light. He beaconed to me. “Come closer,” I thought I heard him say.  “This way.” I’m sure that’s what I heard.

Do you see him? Can you feel him?  He was there.  I swear.

SHARE YOUR WORLD – 2014 WEEK 37

Cee’s Share Your World Challenge for this week will give you a look into my world. Keep Calm and Read on…

List three pet peeves.

PEOPLE WHO TALK ON THEIR CELL PHONES IN PUBLIC FOR ALL THE WORLD TO HEAR!

PEOPLE WHO TALK ON THEIR CELL PHONES IN PUBLIC FOR ALL THE WORLD TO HEAR!

What makes you think I want to hear your business?! I don’t care about the results of your last gynecologist appointment.   Nor do I want to hear a doctor discussing, in detail, a patient’s medical history, the patient’s name, and the details of the operation performed on said patient!  YES! These have both been broadcast LOUD and CLEAR on cell phones, in public with me and others within hearing distance. Can you say EEEEUUUW! and HIPAA PRIVACY RULES?!?!?   Since when do we have to answer the phone EVERY time it rings? Some things can wait.  Honest! And if you must, REALLY MUST talk, keep it down, please.  Thank you.

WHY IS EVERYONE IN SUCH A HURRY?!?!?

WHY IS EVERYONE IN SUCH A HURRY?!?!?

I am thoroughly bothered by people rushing to get – where?  Sometimes NOWHERE!  No patience standing in line..  No patience on the road.  No patience with your kids. No patience with each other. Rush, Rush, RUSH.  SLOW DOWN PEOPLE.  Have some consideration.  Smile, wave, say a kind word.  SLOW THE HELL DOWN!  (Sorry, but this really bugs me.)

BE KIND TO MOTHER EARTH.

BE KIND TO MOTHER EARTH.

Litterbugs!  You know who you are!  Use your ashtray. Don’t chuck things out the car window. And, put a bag in your car to collect your trash. Then put it IN THE GARBAGE. Don’t throw your empty wrappers NEXT to the trash can.  PUT THEM IN THE TRASH CAN!!!!  Treat the earth like your home.  Oh that’s right. IT IS YOUR HOME!  Teach your children well, people!

What makes you unique?

I feel pretty normal.  Nothing special.  Just another average Jo.

What would be your ideal birthday present, and why?

A date with my husband doing  anything.  I love spending time with him.  He makes me smile.

image

Which way does the toilet paper roll go? Over or under?

No brainer.  Over. It’s easier to find and rolls better.  Just sayin’.

(Can’t top Cee’s photo so,why try). 😉

Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?  I’m grateful that my mom’s feeling a little better this week.  And I’m looking forward to, well, ditto.

Cee’s Black & White Challenge – Far Away in the Distance

A web of wires
Dangling, tangling and,
Far away in the distance,
I see the puffiness of the clouds,
The wonder of the sky,
The unreachable, unbelievable,
The unfathomable number of miles and miles.
Somewhere in the distance.

WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE – HUMANITY

Merriam-Webster’s definition of HUMANITY

: the quality or state of being human
: the quality or state of being kind to other people or to animals
: all people

A melting pot of visitors converge every day to see one of New Jersey’s most famous boardwalks. Hotels, casinos, shops, food, food, and more food attracts lots of folks to the Atlantic shore of the 3rd state  – December 18, 1787 – the 47th in size.  New Jersey, noted for it’s farming (blueberries to name just one glorious fruit!) and it’s pharmaceutical industry, is also famous for its beaches and, as seen here, the boardwalk of Atlantic City.

Merriam-Webster has it’s definition of humanity.

LIFE GUARD STAND IN A.C., N.J.

LIFE GUARD STAND IN A.C., N.J.

And Buddha had a few words to say himself.

“Teach this triple truth to all: A generous heart, kind speech, and a life of service and compassion are the things which renew humanity.” ~ Buddha

Buddha. Ya gotta love the man. He keeps it simple.

CEE’S WHICH WAY PHOTO CHALLENGE – 2014 # 11

“There are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth; not going all the way, and not starting” Buddha

Sometimes making a choice between right and wrong or truth and lie can be a rough one to make. Look at it like the proverbial fork in the road. Both choices will get you there. But one will produce better results. You know what to do. Which way?
