CEE’S WHICH WAY CHALLENGE – 2015 WEEK #9

It’s snowing!  No kidding.  They finally (they being our illustrious meteorologists) got it right.  After many predictions that were, shall we say, slightly off (by a mile!) we are getting hammered.  So after finding out I don’t have to go and watch my little charges today, Jeff declares a road trip is in order.  I’m always up for a road trip, even in blizzard conditions, so off to breakfast and a perfect opportunity to record a Which Way Challenge.

Heading out the door…

Almost there…

Diner in snow

And, oh yeah, we made it!

Breakfast was yummy.  We watched the snow fall and the patrons slip sliding there way to their vehicles, and then home again, home again, jiggity jig.

Snow mar 2015E

And yup.  Those are my footprints walking (which way?)  away from the house because I forgot to get a shot of the fresh snow before I went in and had to come back out.  DOPE!

And for those of you who don’t get snow, or are enjoying the wonders of summer, here’s a little slo-mo-snow for your viewing pleasure.  Don’t worry.  I’m safe inside capturing this.

When you’ve had enough of the snow, head on over to Cee’s Which Way Challenge and join in the fun. Click on the image below.

CEE’S FUN FOTO CHALLENGE – BIKES AND MOTORCYCLES

Thirteen years ago, I got my motorcycle license. And it’s been that long since I nearly dropped the bike with me on it, and I never got on that horse again.  OK.  It was an adventure, but I’ll stick to riding shotgun, or whatever they call it when you’re the passenger enjoying the scenery as it flies by.

Jeff still likes to ride, so I’ll just hang on and sing a few bars of “Born to Be Wild” as the wind blows through my gray locks.

And just for a chuckle, for those of you who didn’t see this post, this was Jeff’s helmet and goggles, left out in the garage over the winter.  You’ve heard of “through the looking glass”?  Well this was “through the broken window”.  Apparently momma bird needed a place to build her nest.  We watched these critters hatch and fly away.  Needless to say, that helmet made it’s acquaintance with the trash.

AND TO LEAVE YOU WITH A FEW WORDS OF WISDOM…

CEE’S ODD BALL CHALLENGE 2015 WEEK #8

When I was a kid I would never let a single vegetable pass by my lips and into my tummy.  Things are different today.  Very different.  My dear sweet mom is amazed at the things I will cook, serve, AND EAT! She said I never ate an egg til I was 18.  I don’t remember, but I believe her.  Now I not only eat eggs in any way, shape, or form, but veggies are my side of choice when we go out to breakfast.

Last year was the Year of the Brussels Sprout. I wouldn’t even entertain chewing those things, but one day, after seeing them on a blog post, I had a change of heart. Jeff cooked them, I tried them, I loved them! Look at what I missed!  Time wasted!!

Yesterday Jeff and I took our usual Sunday road trip to a local diner and I ordered a five veggie omlette.  Not only were there five vegetables in that baby, but it came with a side of grilled zucchini instead of potatoes.  Don’t get me wrong.  I LOOOOOVVVVVEEEE potatoes, but my hips don’t.  I use to be able to eat just about anything and still look like Twiggy, but something changed.  Go figure.

Funny thing was, our waitress asked the kitchen for a side of potatoes. So when I shyly mentioned the error and told her it was ok, she kindly brought me my veggie.

Well, not only did I love my zucchini, but IT LOVED ME BACK!  Look here.  Do you see it?

Delicious, cheese covered greens.  And not only did they love me back.  They did it twice!

This girl ate the zuke’s AND the spuds.  Twiggy be damned!

CEE’S WHICH WAY PHOTO CHALLENGE – 2015 WEEK #7

I know I haven’t been here for a while, so this #7 is probably more like número uno for me this year, but I saw a picture of a VW beetle and if you know anything about me you know I love VW bugs. and if you know anything else about me, you know I’m a nice person 😉 so  I wanted to share.

Fast forward to Which Way…

So we heard it was going to snow today.  But do we stay home? Of course not.  We HAD to go to Trader Joe’s because I HAD to have their coconut Greek yogurt.  Trader’s is about 25 minutes away so we detoured for breakfast and then off we went.

True to form, it snowed.  Traffic was stupid.  But I had my eye on the price.  Coconut Greek YOGURT!

The snow  didn’t really look like a big deal.

image

After all, TJ’s had what I needed.

This is a really fun place to shop.  You get free coffee and can taste samples of yummy food, they’ve got a great selection of cards for A DOLLAR and the cashier’s wear Hawaiian shirts – ALL YEAR ROUND!)  The walls are decorated with fun, colorful pictures and it’s just a very cheerful shopping experience..  (Here’s where the VW comes in.)

This is the pic that makes me smile.

One if by land…

image

(But if you’re into canoes…)

And two if by sea (or river, or lake, or…)

image

So I grab up some coconut yogurt ( and mangoes and blackberries, sliced italian bread and chocolate covered raisins – all the essentials) then home again home again, jigging jig.

image

Traffic seems to have died down.  I suppose yogurt is not a priority with some folks.

CEE’S ODD BALL CHALLENGE 2015 – WEEK 6

Well it’s been a heck of a couple of weeks.  Mom went from the nursing home, to the hospital, and back again.  She’s doing well (thanks, in case you’re asking 😉) but it’s been a hell of a roller coaster ride.  In between there and back, I had carpel tunnel surgery.  It’s put a crimp in my style – like I have one – but I’m coming along (thanks, in case you’re asking 😁)

It did supply me with a creepy odd ball photo for your viewing pleasure. (Or not 😫)

image

It has also freed up some time for me to be bored out of my skull.  Good side is, I find that I can do more with my left hand than I thought.  I’ve also been meditating more along with a very cool app called Calm, and I’ve even gotten Jeff to join me.  Oh and Rocky too. He’s healing well from his cancer/amputation (thanks, in case your asking 😊🐶) and is meditating along with us.  No lie!  He lays down, breathes rhythmically, and when we’re done and the app is quiet,  he lifts his head. Come on! Really?  Yes.  Really.  Kind of odd.

And not to leave one of my favorite oddities out, Abby’s back.  She’s dressed for all the predictions, but we have lucked out here, so far.  Jeff’s daughter lives in Massachusetts – 7 feet of snow and it’s not letting up!  Can you say “South Caroline here I come!” ? And north Jersey has gotten it’s share, but we are hanging in, much to Abby’s dismay I would imagine.  Don’t worry Abs ol’ girl.  The meteorologists can’t be wrong forever.  Or can they?

Abby Abnormal - with her positive attitude. Bring your sled and it will snow. ;-)

CEE’S ODD BALL CHALLENGE 2015 – WEEK 4

His mom says he’s a goof.  I say he’s an adorable odd ball.

And what’s more appropriate for an Odd Ball Challenge than a five year old odd ball of fire surrounded by colorful plastic balls in a giant ball pit.

Now, ladies and gentlemen,  find waldo…

ballpit 1

That one was a breeze.

Now this…ballpit 2

OK.  That wasn’t all that tough either.  Still, a little odd. Wouldn’t ya say?

SHARE YOUR WORLD 2015 WEEK 4

This is going to take some thought.  I have trouble remembering much of when I was little or even bigger for that matter.  Oh well.  Here we go…

Where did you live at age five?  Is it the same place or town you live now?

I lived in a town called Nutley, NJ.  (no jokes, please)  I remember we had to walk down a flight of stairs to get to the front door, so the apartment my mom and dad had was below ground level.  We weren’t there long, but that was the place when I was five.  It was pretty much right outside of NYC. Not huge, but not a one horse town either.  And don’t read anything into that.  I LOVE horses and small towns. 😉

You are invited to a party that will be attended by many fascinating people you never met.  Would you attend this party if you were to go by yourself?

Of course I’d go.  I am fascinated by fascinating people.  And they would be fascinated with me.  LOL  (but no Fru Fru dress.  Right, Pix?)

Did you grow up in a small or big town? Did you like it?

Belleville, NJ.  Size wise, I’m not really sure.  I guess it was kind of big since I had to take a bus to school. It was right outside of Nutley – next town over – so also – not a one horse town. 😉 But mostly a poor one as I recall.  I know we were.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a writer and a teacher.  I ended up finishing high school, going to secretarial school, getting married at age 19, and working in an office for 25 years.  After that 25, I got ‘downsized’ and I’m not talking about my weight! Decided 47 was a good age to start college, graduated and became a teacher.  Now when do I become a writer?

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Last week?  Jeff being home from work for a few days.

Looking forward to?  Jeff being home for a couple of days.

Since I don’t have any pix from when I was five, I thought I’d share this one. (It is Share Your World, right?)  I think I was two.  Check out the car.  (and the shoes AND THE HAIR DO – OMG!) Then check out Cee’s blog by clicking on the icon below.

SHARE YOUR WORLD 2015 – WEEK 3

Back with a Share Your World, hosted by Cee.  Read on then join in. 🙂

Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?

Warren Buffett.  A have a few questions for him.  And a request.  😉   Seriously, I think he’d be a very interesting person to have sitting across the dinner table.  If he’s not available, or if they both want to come, I’d also invite the Dalai Lama

When did you last sing to yourself? To someone else?

I crank up the radio and sing in the car, when I think (hope) no one is looking.  I did this yesterday to Janis Joplin/Mercedes Benz.  I’ll bet I was a sight.  (like I care) 😉

If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any one quality or ability, what would it be?

I would like to be wildly and intensely creative.  I know I try my hand at a lot of things: musical instruments, photography, writing, crocheting, jewelry making, blogging, drawing, tangling – to name a few (and to display a few),

but I wish I had more of a natural knack for imagining.  My creative synapses are not firing at full capacity.  If there were a drug for this – other than LSD – I’d consider it.  I’m OK. But, of late, I’ve seen some amazing art.  Dang!

What, if anything, is too serious to be joked about?

The news.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Last week, I realized that I’m stronger than I thought.   I’m grateful for that.

The week to come – more strength.

CEE’S BLACK AND WHITE CHALLENGE – WOOD

I’m obsessed with grapevine wreaths lately. There is a giant peace sign wreath a few towns over, hanging outside the window of a  beauty salon. I WANT THAT THING!  Today I got a coupon for 55% off anything in A. C. Moore. I will use it and I WILL figure out how to make one.

imageThis is not that, and I’m not even sure grapevine is wood.  But I’m certain someone will let me know if I’ve erred in some way. I just thought it was pleasing to the eye.

Stop by and visit Cee’s blog. You’ll find some amazing photos there.
