SHARE YOUR WORLD – 2013 WEEK 40

Another week, another share.  A little more about moi…

Do you plan out things usually or do you do them more spontaneous (for example if you are visiting a big city you don’t know?)

I’m not big on planning.  It makes me too anxious.  I prefer that things happen quickly so I don’t have to agonize over them.  And I do agonize. 😦

Do you play video/computer game? Which one(s) or most recent?

I’ve been known to play wii, mostly golf, bowling, and tennis (since I’m incapable of engaging in the real thing).  I’m an average player, but I like to fuss with it sometimes.  I also like Words with Friends and Dice with Friends.  Those are the main reasons for the “low bat” on my iPhone and iPad.  I’ve also got a Sudoku app on both devices.  I’m a little bit of a nut  with that game.  I refuse to give up.

In a car would you rather drive or ride?

Since I have a tendency to step on the imaginary brake when I’m riding shot gun, and because I white knuckle the dashboard when someone else is behind the wheel, I prefer to drive.  Except at night.  My night vision is not what it should be, I suppose.  My family worries about me when I need to get somewhere after dark.  I worry about “the other guy”.

Since adolescence, in what three-year period do you feel you experienced the most personal growth and change?

I’m thinking…

There.  Now you know as much as I know.  If I ever figure out the personal growth thing, I’ll get back to you.

Meanwhile, stop on over to Cee’s and take a look at some other bloggers and their shares.  You know the routine. Click on the icon and have fun.

SHARE YOUR WORLD – 2013 WEEK 39

Sharing my world…

Question #1

You are given $5,000 and the chance to exchange it for one of two envelopes. One envelope contains $50,000 and one contains $500. Do you make the trade? Why or why not?

No brainer.  I’m a gambler – not degenerate, but I’ve been known to take chances.  Definitely try for the 50 Grand.

Question #2

Do you believe in the afterlife?  Reincarnation?

Yes, I do, and I’m just not really sure.

Question #3

If someone made a movie of your life would it be a drama, a comedy, a romantic-comedy, action film, or science fiction?

Anybody that knows me would say Romantic-Comedy.  Not this marriage so much, but, well, just thinking back on my past.  I gotta laugh.  If I don’t, I’ll cry!  And I would, without a doubt, have Jenna Elman portrait me, and Johnny Depp, every leading man in my life!  (love that bad guy image) 🙂

CAN YOU SEE THE RESEMBLANCE?  Even our names are close in sound. 🙂

Question #4

If you had to spend one weekend alone in a single public building or institution, which building would you choose?

I’d like to hang at the White House.  I could roam around and take in all the history.  I don’t know if that would be my first choice if I had a whole lot of time to think about this, but it would definitely be one of them.  I’ll bet you would hear some whisperings in those hallways – ghost of Christmas past.

SHARE YOUR WORLD – 2013 WEEK 37

I missed a week.  SURPRISE!  Like I am ever able to keep up.  Oh well.  Here I am at week 37 so that’s what counts, right?

This week’s questions, brought to you by Cee’s Photography.

What is your favorite outdoor activity?

I’m not a whole lot of ‘active’ anymore, but if I had to choose something I CAN do, it would be walking.  Riding my bike would be second.  If I knew how, it would be swimming.  And if I were able, it would be sky diving. (Just kidding! Or am I?)  Old(er) bones = limitations.

Do you prefer your food separated or mixed together?

OH LORDY! SEPARATED!  When I see people mix their peas with their mashed potatoes, I CRINGE!  When I see people mix their peas with anything, I cringe.  I hate peas!

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?

I’d love to live somewhere that is a combination of country, beach, and desert.  I really do love all of those options, so if anyone knows of such a place, let ME know.  Since I’m not a traveler, I don’t know what’s out there, but I’d like my home to have clean air, lots of sunshine, and wide open spaces.  OK.  I really don’t have ONE answer.  (See.  This is why I have trouble with these questions.)

What household chore do you absolutely hate doing?

I loathe vacuuming.  I even had to look up how to spell it!  (I also hate dusting, ironing, and washing windows.  I will not make the top ten Housewives of New Jersey)  😉

Now it’s your turn to join in the fun.  Click on the icon below to get to Cee’s Share Your World challenge.  Thanks for stopping by (again?)

SHARE YOUR WORLD – 2013 WEEK 35

I hate to have all this fun by myself.  Stop over at Cee’s blog and share your world.  But first, read All About Me.  ‘Cause, ultimately, my blog is all about me. 🙂

Question #1

Have you ever bungee jumped?  If you haven’t, would you want to?

Simple.  Never did.  Never will.  I am way too much of a baby to do that.  God bless you if you do.  Enjoy.  Have fun.  Let it be your excellent adventure.  Not me. Not now. Now ever! Next question, please.

Question – ah – next

For your computer Mac or Windows based computer?  Desktop, laptop, Pad or other?

Toshiba Satellite Laptop, Windows based. And, after having lost my iPad 2 last week, and going through the trauma (and still going through it) of someone rifling through my stuff, I am now using an iPad 4th generation.  Nice.  Very nice.  But I still have a knot in my stomach.  (Yes, I had a passcode, but still.  I just feel icky about someone using it.  I lost it on the street, after foolishly putting it on top of my car when I was unloading groceries.  Then drove off with it up there. I hope it got run over a million, trillion times before someone found it!)

Question #3

If you were instantly able to play one musical instrument perfectly that you never have played before, what would it be?

Guitar.  Definitely.  I’ve tried piano, organ, accordian (not my idea!  my parents – not that there’s anything wrong with that), mandolin, guitar – never really stuck to any one of them – dope!

Question #4

Describe yourself in at least four uplifting words.

OK.  Honestly?

1. Insecure (but working on it – that’s the uplifting part)

2. Honest

3. Trustworthy

4. (I’m stuck)  Ah – maybe friendly

OK now, your turn.  Go over to Cee’s and see what you can do about explaining yourself to us.  Click on the icon below.  Go on.  You know you want to.

SHARE YOUR WORLD – 2013 WEEK 34

Here I am, sharing again.  Ready?

Question #1

If you were to move and came fully furnished with everything you ever wanted, list at least three things from your old house you wish to retain? (assume all personal items; photos, books, animals, etc. go with you)Calendar page home

Well, if all personal items come, then the only things I can think to take with me are all the memories from the last 22 years.  Buying the place together, having all the kids with us, kids leaving – one by one, kids grown and visiting, and now, grand kids.  Mostly, all good memories.  Some that make me sad, but hey!  Who said life’s perfect?  Not me.  (Just prit-near)  🙂  I suppose that’s at LEAST three things.

And NO!  We haven’t decorated for Christmas yet, even though the stores around here have lost their grip and have Halloween thingamajigs mixed in with Christmas whatchamacallits.  This is an older photo.  I just like it.

Question #2

Is the glass half empty or half full? What is in the glass?

427

This one bugs me.  When I’m giving (good) advice, half full.  When I’m going through annoying stuff, then, in my head, half empty. Not my head.  The glass!  (Yeah, I gotta work on that.)

Questions #3

What calms you down?   *~X( at wits' end

Very little.  Mostly it takes time and sometimes I can really drag it out.  I’m not a calm person by nature.  I tend to freak now and ask questions later.  Sad, huh?  (ANOTHER thing to work on!  Dag nab it! and Tarnation!)

Question #4

What individual item of food would you not eat, even if it was served to you at the Queen/President’s dinner table? (Something ordinary.)

I HATE BRUSSEL SPROUTS!

SHARE YOUR WORLD 2013 WEEK 33

107

A little late, but that’s my M.O.  Here’s a little more about me brought to you by Cee’s blog @ ceephotography.com.  Four questions.  Four answers.  Here goes nothin’…

If you could live in any OTHER time, when would it be and why?

Definitely during the wild west days.  Of course, I would be a rough and tumblin’ cowgirl, rustling cattle and riding into the sunset.

If you were given a yacht today, what would you name it?

Like most things that I tack a name onto, it would be “ONEGEM”.

Tell how you are feeling today in the form of a weather report. (For example, partly cloudy, sunny with a chance for showers, etc.)

Sunny.  With a chance of more sunshine. 🙂

List at least two things in nature do you find most beautiful?

Flowers, of any kind, and water, in any natural form.

SHARE YOUR WORLD – 2013 WEEK 32

Here I am – again – Sharing My World with Cee at ceephotography, and with YOU!  Please do read and then play along.  Or at least stop by Cee’s and check out what some other bloggers have to share.

Question # 1…

If you could be a tree or plant, what would you be?

I think I’d be the might oak.  Big, strong, air of confidence.  Probably sees a lot of action – squirrels, birds, insects, wind, rain, some soft, some wild breezes.  Yes.  An oak.

Question numero dos…

If you were an ice cream cone how many scoops and flavors would you be and why?

I would be one scoop of real homemade blueberry – we are the blueberry capital, one scoop of chocolate peanut butter – ate that every day for 9 months when I was pregnant with my sweet son, and one scoop of butter pecan – the ice cream of choice when I was little and lucky enough to get to go out for ice cream, which wasn’t often. Three scoops – of memories.

Question # drei…

What type of pets do you have or want?

We have a long haired german shepherd – (frizz, do you see a pattern here? 🙂 ) 564565and a black cat.  If I could, I would have a horse.  I use to ride in my younger days and miss that a lot.  Even just to be able to pet one of those handsome animals again would give me a thrill.

And numero quatro…

Where do you hide junk when people come over?

Junk? JUNK?!?!?!?!  I have no junk!  Everything I have I NEED!  (pssst…in the closet.)

SHARE YOUR WORLD – 2013 WEEK 30

Yet another post – all about me.  Here’s the next installment in response to Cee’s challenge, Share Your World.  You, my friend, should you choose to read on, get to learn more about little ol’ me.

Here we go…

If life was ‘just a bowl of cherries’… which fruit would you rather be..?

A bowl of blueberries blanketed in scrumptious whipped cream. image

If you could witness or physically attend any event past, present or future, what would it be?

I’d like to have physically been the first to set foot on the moon.  It was fascinating to watch on the tube (remember when tv was called the “tube”?), so to actually be the first person to do it would have been extraordinary.  To infinity and beyond – for sure!

If you could know the answer to any question, besides “What is the meaning of life?”, what would it be?

Why can’t we all get along? (Maybe just knowing the answer to that question wouldn’t be enough.  Still…)

If you were a crayon, what color would you be?

Green.  The color of grass and trees and avocado shakes.

SHARE YOUR WORLD – 20013 WEEK 28

Here we are again at Cee’s Share Your World challenge.  Only it’s Share My World, but you’re most certainly welcome to participate.  These are this week’s questions.  Come on!  Play along!

107

Which of Snow White’s 7 dwarfs describes you best?  Plus what would the 8th dwarf’s name be? (Doc, Happy, Bashful, Sleepy, Sneezy, Grumpy, Dopey)

I was curious about this one so I asked my husband to be honest and tell me which he would choose to describe me.  He said, without hesitation, “Doc!”  When I asked why he said it was because he was so smart.  Good answer.  (Good try!)

I said Dopey.  Mostly because, well, let’s just leave it at that.  (Apparently Jeff and I are at opposite ends of the spectrum with this one.

The 8th dwarf:  Dazzle (Bling bling! – can you picture it?)

Would you travel into outer space?

Yup.  Funny because I’m afraid to fly.  Go figure.

If you were a tree, would you become a book or furniture?  Please describe.

A book.  Once I’m out there, decoratively covered and published, I could be around a long time.  Technology, e-books, Kindle’s, they can copy me!  I’d still be on someone’s shelf somewhere, looking all dressed up in my pretty binder.  I might get old and worn, but I would have been useful.  Kind of like I am already. 🙂

Which would you prefer:  a wild, turbulent life filled with joy, sorrow, passion, and adventure–intoxicating successes and stunning setbacks; or a contented bordering on happy, secure, predictable life surrounded by friends and family without such wide swings of fortune and mood?

Easy.  Wild.

107

Another installment of Cee’s Share Your World Challenge.  This is the part where you get to know more about me, and if you mosey on over to Cee’s, you’ll get to know about some other bloggers as well.  I’m not one for putting myself out there, but this is just plain ol’ fun.   So without further hesitation…

Describe yourself in a word or words that starts with the first letter of your name.

Gabby.  I’m a real talker!

Generous.  Maybe not to a fault but I’m…

Good-Hearted, so I think the two can go hand in hand.

Do you prefer reading coffee table books (picture), biographies, fiction, non-fiction, educational?

Fiction.  Hands down my favorite, but I’ve been know to educate myself sometimes. 🙂  My preference is murder/mystery/detective/cop type books, mostly. Yeah.  Definitely fiction.

beach book

If 100 people your age were chosen at random, how many do you think you’d find leading a more satisfying life than yours?

That, sadly, might be a 50/50 thing.  I don’t apply myself as much as I should.  If I did, I’d say not too many.  (It’s a long story.)

If you had only one book you could write what would it be about?  Assume it is a top 10 seller of any genre.

About a young girl, living, working, surviving a poor town.  Trying to pull herself up by her bootstraps and making the best of what she’s been given.  There’d of course be love, drama, heartache, tears, joy – and maybe a detective thrown in. 🙂

If not that, then a murder/mystery/detective/cop type book. 🙂
