TIME OUT FOR ART – MARCH 26 2015

Some of you may have noticed, I’ve taken up Tangling.  Zentangle is a fabulous, relaxing, confidence building pass time.  I was just reading a post by my amiga, Lisa, at Zeebra Design’s & Destinations.  And it’s true.  There’s always time for art.  If you have 10 minutes, you can draw or paint or start SOMETHING!  It’s calming.  It’s productive.  It’s FUN.

Here’s some of my art.  I never felt like I could really, REALLY draw, but I can.

SHARE YOUR WORLD – 2015 WEEK #11

It’s March 20, 2015.  It’s the first day of SPRING!  It’s snowing!  I will NOT share how I feel about that.  So…

List 2 things you have to be happy about?

I can’t even think of anything that comes before this.  I am grateful for my husband, Jeff.  For too many reasons to list.

001

And my other love, something that I will not say is my passion because I’ve complained about not having a passion, so I’ll just say it’s something that makes me happy, relaxed, and, yes, a little confident that there is still hope that one day I will have a passion.  My tangling.

Zentangle – A happy thing.  Not a passion

Do you prefer ketchup or mustard or mayonnaise?

Mayo.March 2015 009Everything else gets HOT SAUCE!

If you were to paint a picture of your childhood, what colors would you use?

Black, mostly.

Do you prefer a bath or shower?

Shower.  Definitely!  No photos.  Don’t thank me.  😉

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week,  Having lunch with my friend, Gen.  I have very little adult, human contact (sad, I know) with  Jeff working away from home so much and with Gen living two hours away, so I’m always grateful when I get to see her.  We talk (a lot), and laugh (a lot), and share (a lot) and for that I am oh, so grateful.

50 plus of friendship – what’s not to be grateful about

and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?  Easy.  SPRING!  The weather may not be cooperating today, but the word “spring” is out there now so it can’t be long.March 2015 260APlease take some time to stop off at Cee’s for more sharing and for a look at a sensation blog.  Click on the icon below.share-your-world2

SHARE YOUR WORLD 2015 – WEEK 3

Back with a Share Your World, hosted by Cee.  Read on then join in. 🙂

Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?

Warren Buffett.  A have a few questions for him.  And a request.  😉   Seriously, I think he’d be a very interesting person to have sitting across the dinner table.  If he’s not available, or if they both want to come, I’d also invite the Dalai Lama

When did you last sing to yourself? To someone else?

I crank up the radio and sing in the car, when I think (hope) no one is looking.  I did this yesterday to Janis Joplin/Mercedes Benz.  I’ll bet I was a sight.  (like I care) 😉

If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any one quality or ability, what would it be?

I would like to be wildly and intensely creative.  I know I try my hand at a lot of things: musical instruments, photography, writing, crocheting, jewelry making, blogging, drawing, tangling – to name a few (and to display a few),

but I wish I had more of a natural knack for imagining.  My creative synapses are not firing at full capacity.  If there were a drug for this – other than LSD – I’d consider it.  I’m OK. But, of late, I’ve seen some amazing art.  Dang!

What, if anything, is too serious to be joked about?

The news.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Last week, I realized that I’m stronger than I thought.   I’m grateful for that.

The week to come – more strength.

WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE – CONVERGE

I took some liberties this week – I’ll attribute it to poetic license.

Poetic License – definition
noun
1.

license or liberty taken by a poet, prose writer, or other artist in deviating from rule, conventional form, logic, or fact, in order to produce a desired effect.
My desired effect was to showcase a rose that caught my eye, a Zentangle I created and felt fit the theme of the challenge, and a conglomeration of the two.
P.S.  I throw out that word “artist” with tongue in cheek.  🙂

HAPPY HANDS CREATE – OCTOBER – #1

Meghan @firebonnet has a brand new, fun challenge.  It’s all about putting your creative juices to work.  The only part your camera/iphone/smartphone has in this is to document something you’ve created by hand.   Its’ called – wait for it – #happyhandscreate.  LOVE IT!  I posted on Instagram (gemma013) but I thought it would be fun to put it out here as well.  I’m going to try to get the most outta myself.  Thanks for the push, Meghan.

Check out her blog  and get in on the action.

Here’s my first entry.  I am new at this Zentangling thing, so if you are a pro, or have any tips, please feel free to (kindly) help out.  I am all ears (and a little bit eyes, nose, and mouth.)  😉

TIME OUT FOR ART – TOTAL IMMERSION IN COLOR

When picking up my little buddy a few days back, I was greeted with a smile and an urgent request.  This was a little look into our conversation:

Him:  ( running out of the classroom and grabbing my hand)  Gemma!  We meed to make a sign! (that’s not a typ0.  He meeeeeeds to! He’s four remember.)

Me:  (taking his hand and smiling – he does that to me) Hi, Gemma!

Him:  (with a slight frown and then the light goes on)  Hi, Gemma!  We meeeeeeed to make a sign!

Me:  OK. Sounds like a plan.  What kind of sign?

Him:  A No Dinosaurs sign.  I meed it to keep va dinosaurs out of my room!

Me: (still smiling) Well why would that be?  Are there dinosaurs trying to get into your room?

Him:  No.  But I meed to make sure vat vat doesn’t happen!

So, we made our way home and made a No Dinosaurs sign.

A NO DINOSAURS SIGN

A “NO DINOSAURS” SIGN

I did the dino using google to guide me of course.  My little friend added the red touches, which he informs me makes it the No Dinosaurs sign.

My husband says, “And you get paid to do this!”  And my response is, “Yes.  And I love every minute.”

Lisa, at Zeebra Designs & Destinations is asking us to stop, for just a little while this busy time of year,  and be creative.  Make yourself a priority and Take some Time Out for Art.  It’ll soothe the soul. 🙂

CEE’S FUN FOTO CHALLENGE – ONE ITEM OR NUMBER ONE

One is the loneliest number. I feel a song coming on.  Not that I ever understood that little ditty by Three Dog Night  But I disagree.  I think “one” can be a good thing.  Not necessarily lonely.  It’s all in your perspective.

And here’s my perspective on ONE…from a photographic point of view.

one angel

See.  One can be refreshing.  Soothing. Peaceful.  Pleasant. Kinda nice.

One of a kind Z

ONE tells us we are unique individuals.  That’s kinda cool.

Kinda brilliant on my part!

P.S.  I drank the vino anyway. 😉

WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE – THE WORLD THROUGH YOUR EYES

Jeff and I have a home right outside Atlantic City, New Jersey.  Much of what makes up the City doesn’t enter into my world.  But sometimes, every so often, I find this down-the-road-and-to-the-left part of my world fascinating.

We spent the afternoon gazing in utter amazement at the world of sand sculpting.  This competition/exhibition was available to tons of curious tourists and locals for FREE!  Now, how often do you see something this cool for free?

FREE!!!

FREE!!!

Artists from around the world gathered to sculpt for spectators, and, of course, the competition was fierce.  See if you don’t agree.

Some of the sculptors at work.  Simply incredible!

Of course,  I had to get a shot of Jeff in because he’s the biggest part of my world.
