CEE’S ODD BALL PHOTO CHALLENGE 2015 – WEEK 11

I sat down at my computer to compose this post and it made me think: Why do I do so many Odd Ball posts?  Well, I’m not going to worry about it.

Here are some odd shots of some ‘decor’ around town.  The town slogan:  “Collingswood. The place you want to be.”  Or something like that.

I got a look at my 5 figure tax bill recently.  I’m not so sure anymore.

I was real conflicted about it, as DeNiro said in Analyze This. (P.S.  This movie is an oldie but a goodie – kind of like me.  If you haven’t seen it, it’s good for a chuckle – kind of like me.)

Boss Paul Vitti: I wasn’t really gonna whack you.

Dr. Ben Sobel: Paul…

Boss Paul Vitti: Okay, I was gonna whack you. But I was real conflicted about it.

Anywho… Crocheting?  Knitting?  Combo of the two?  Is it art?  Is it tacky? It certainly is Odd Ball.

CEE’S FUN FOTO CHALLENGE – BARK OR LEAVES

I’m low on bark but long on leaves while walking through the park nearby that is blanketed in red and gold.  Each step I take makes a crispy, crunching sound.  Like something out of a horror movie. I even scared myself! You know, like when you’re watching something spooky, and you’re shouting to the TV.   “Don’t go in the basement!”  “Why would you follow the sound. RUN WHILE YOU CAN!” “DON’T OPEN THAT DOOR!”

Thank goodness it was so gorgeous or I might have had to turn around.  “NO! DONT LOOK BEHIND YOU!!!”

CEE’S WHICH WAY PHOTO CHALLENGE 2014 – #16

Follow the sign to the mellow, yellow walk in the park.  A relaxing stroll to recharge the soul. This is autumn in Knight Park, right around the corner from our house.  Not too shabby. 😉

FFF-CHALLENGE by FRIZZTEXT

F IS FOR FFFLAG!

ffflag panorama

Having been a teacher, I don’t know why it took me so long to join in the FrizzText A-Z Photo Challenge.  Of course I didn’t graduate college and become a teacher til I was 51.  Now if that doesn’t make me a procrastinator!  So, as is my M.O., I’m late and coming in on the F’s and I’m not sure I’ll make it to all the challenges (also my M.O), but here’s my FFF’s – and I know I’m being obvious, but I’m coming in with FLAG!

ffflag 5

This beautiful property down the road a piece from our shore house is flanked with miniature flags.  Then, last night, we were taken by surprise when we went into town back home, and they were holding a National Nite Out in Collingswood.  The flag was not so miniature there.  Appropo though.  No?

Well, that was FUN!  Now, make your way over to FrizzText blog  by clicking here and see more of his challenge.  And for an extra treat, you can listen to Frizz and his magical guitar on SoundCloud while you’re perusing.

CEE’S FUN FOTO CHALLENGE – THE FABULOUS SEASON OF WINTER!

We didn’t get hammered by snow this winter like we’ve had in years past.  Sadly however, much of the east coast is getting pummeled by rain and high winds.  I guess we’re lucky that we didn’t get both, but whoa!  I am waterlogged!  Here’s a peek into this winter’s smidge of snow.  Even a little snow can be enchanting.

If you feel so inclined, zoom in on the trees and find the deer.  I didn’t know they were there until after I took the photo.  If you’ve never been to Valley Forge in the winter, you’re missing something beautiful.  And if you haven’t been to Cee’s blog site, you also don’t know what you’re missin’.  Click the icon to see more of winter and Cee’s fabulous fotos.

CEE’S FUN FOTO CHALLENGE – SIGNS (OF VARIOUS KINDS)

Today, while my two young charges were attending reading hour at the Cherry Hill Library, I skulked out onto the floor to capture a few signs hawking books.  What better sign can you find!

Take note of the Elephant and Piggie sign.  If you have small children or grandchildren, go to your local library and pick one or more of these up.  They are hysterical and adorable.  Oh, by Mo Willems (no I didn’t leave out the ‘i” and mistype the “a”.  It really is  Willems.:-). )

And, speaking of my charges, this little guy is wearing a sign as well.

signs bugs

I had to include the cute little pouty lips.

Since we had a torrential downpour this morning, I put my bike ride off til I got home.  I didn’t really overwhelm you with too many fun fotos up top, so I thought I’d take my camera on my ride and point and click in the park.  I was amazed at the number of signs I came across.  These are just some.

This is actually the second stop sign on my route.  I thought the hydrant gave it a little more class. 🙂

Then comes the stop sign warning – telling you that a stop sign is up ahead.  HUH? (if you look way down the road a piece, you’ll see the actual stop sign this sign is referring to.  WHAT?

One Way

Believe it or not, there was another Do Not Enter sign to the right.  Can you say Overkill?

Slow Down!

This sign is suppose to register your speed.  I guess I wasnt’ going all that fast.  I’m working on it!

A little retro here.  And there really is a pay phone under this sign.  It’s seen better days, but it works!

A few more rules and regs before leaving the park.  And none too soon.  This was a sign that it was time for me to go home!!!!

This one’s a little blurry and understandably so.  I was shaking in my boots when I shot this.  I’m a little leery of these guys.  It all started back in 1970, in the San Fransisco Bay area.  But that’s another story for another day.

CEES’ FUN FOTO CHALLENGE – BRIDGES

Cee, @ ceephotography.com has presented yet another challenge. Bridges.  I’m afraid I’ve posted most of my bridges.   So I guess I’m not rising to the occasion  and I need to do more pointing and clicking  and maybe the next time some says “bridges” I’ll be ready.  But for now, here’s what’s left of my bridge crossings.   Maybe less is more.  🙂

Since I don’t have enough bridge shots to fill a thimble, maybe you could stop by Cee’s to get a look at what others have to share.  Thanks.  And thanks for stopping by, browsing, liking, and commenting.  As has been the custom, click on the cute little icon below and you’ll be on your way to Cee’s.

TRAVEL THEME – BENCHES

The travel theme this week on Ailsa’s blog is benches.  I found a few photos that I thought fit the bill, but not many.  I drove around today hoping to find one or two more.  You would think that a person could find an interesting bench or two driving around a few city blocks by the beach, but NO!  I saw benches to rest on while waiting for NJ Transit 501 to take you to the casinos, and benches in gardens that are not meant for sitting, but for decorating. (just not very decorative in my opinion)  Sadly, I found nothing like the beauties I’ve seen on some of the other blogs that have joined in on this interesting challenge.  The price of gas nagged me into heading back home with nothing but a bag or two of groceries that I stopped to pick up along the way.  I thought, while I was out:  spinach, salmon, a few green grapes …

Anyway, there aren’t many shots here, but they’re slightly better than the bus stop benches I saw today.  Enjoy.

THURSDAY LINGERING LOOK AT WINDOWS – 11

If it weren’t for the ridiculous taxes and the small town politics, my town would be the place to be.  As a matter of fact, I do believe that’s our motto around here.  Collingswood, the place you want to be.  The biggest draws around town are the shops and restaurants.  WordPress can’t accommodate all the windows in one tiled gallery, so I picked out some of my favorites.

No lie!  There are so many fantastic restaurants, from Italian to Asian.  From Italian to Mexican. From Italian to Indian. From – did I say Italian?  Well you get my drift.

If you want to get your hair done before going to dinner, we’ve got that, too.  Or should I say, got those, too.  I can think of four salons off the top of my head. (no pun intended) You really have to see it to appreciate it, so if you’re ever in the area, stop on the avenue.  You won’t be disappointed.

As is true to my form, I’m late with my entry.  But don’t let that stop you from clicking over to Dawn’s blog, lingeringvisions, so you can take a long, hard look at some very interesting windows.

Thanks for stopping by!

And if you’re ever in the neighborhood…
