SHARE YOUR WORLD – 2015 WEEK #13

Not to seem superstitious, but the number 13 is a favorite of mine, so I couldn’t miss this one.

What was your favorite subject in school?

I didn’t like school – for a number of reasons.  This is a ‘sharing’ challenge so I’ll share.  I had very few friends in school.  Maybe my own doing, I don’t know. But it kind of spoiled school for me.  Later, much later, I attended college at the age of 47.  At that age you’re there for the learning, not for the friendships, so, then,  math was my favorite.  (I got your back, Gen).

“Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away” (George Carlin). When have you had such a moment?

No doubt, the birth of my son.

What’s your choice: jigsaw, crossword, or numeric puzzles?

Numeric puzzles, of course.  And I love, Love, LOVE Sudoku.  Every Sunday, Jeff and I go out for breakfast.  He has to have the Sunday paper.  I have to have the Sudoku.  We sit and reach our hands across the table,  my left resting on Jeff’s right, waiting for our order.  Jeff reads.  I do the puzzle.  Corny you might say.  I say Thank God.

If you found an obviously abandoned car with $50,000 in the back seat, what would you do?

As much as I could really use the money – Uncle Sam creamed us this year! – I’d have to turn it in to the police.  I’m such a nerd.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week,

That our taxes weren’t any higher!!  I’m paying taxes on money that I already paid taxes on!  ie: Social Security.  Come on. Really?  Yes. Really.  But it can always be worse, right?

and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Next week I’m off from my little caregiver job.  I can use the time off.  And if the sun decides to shine, BONUS!

CEE’S ODD BALL CHALLENGE 2015 WEEK #8

When I was a kid I would never let a single vegetable pass by my lips and into my tummy.  Things are different today.  Very different.  My dear sweet mom is amazed at the things I will cook, serve, AND EAT! She said I never ate an egg til I was 18.  I don’t remember, but I believe her.  Now I not only eat eggs in any way, shape, or form, but veggies are my side of choice when we go out to breakfast.

Last year was the Year of the Brussels Sprout. I wouldn’t even entertain chewing those things, but one day, after seeing them on a blog post, I had a change of heart. Jeff cooked them, I tried them, I loved them! Look at what I missed!  Time wasted!!

Yesterday Jeff and I took our usual Sunday road trip to a local diner and I ordered a five veggie omlette.  Not only were there five vegetables in that baby, but it came with a side of grilled zucchini instead of potatoes.  Don’t get me wrong.  I LOOOOOVVVVVEEEE potatoes, but my hips don’t.  I use to be able to eat just about anything and still look like Twiggy, but something changed.  Go figure.

Funny thing was, our waitress asked the kitchen for a side of potatoes. So when I shyly mentioned the error and told her it was ok, she kindly brought me my veggie.

Well, not only did I love my zucchini, but IT LOVED ME BACK!  Look here.  Do you see it?

Delicious, cheese covered greens.  And not only did they love me back.  They did it twice!

This girl ate the zuke’s AND the spuds.  Twiggy be damned!

WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE – WARMTH

Warmth.  The unconditional love of a dog.

This is Rocky.  He’s 11 years old.  We think he’s a love, but if you came to our front door, you might not agree.  He’s very protective, to say the least. But he is also very devoted, caring, and VERY sweet – once you get to know him.  😉

055

Rocky is literally a junk yard dog.  We found him in Camden, NJ, yes, in a junk yard.  His dad was a giant of a dog, and very laid back.  His mom, not so much.  I don’t know if she was upset because someone was ogling her babies, or if she was just plain ornery, but she had one unpleasant disposition.  But Rocky was fluffy and little and cute and covered in ticks!  But that didn’t matter.  I fell in love.  So Rocky came home with us.   I spent some painstaking hours, over the next couple of days, cleaning him up.  And he cleaned up nice.  Now Rock gives us all the love he can muster.

He is chock full of warmth.

A week ago, Rocky had an operation.  Things appear to have gone well, but we’re not out of the woods yet, so keep your fingers crossed.

Love, caring, snuggles, and wet pup kisses.  He’s what “warmth” means to me.

Hoping you all ring in the new year with some warm snuggles too.  Happy Holidays.

SHARE YOUR WORLD – 2014 WEEK 37

Cee’s Share Your World Challenge for this week will give you a look into my world. Keep Calm and Read on…

List three pet peeves.

PEOPLE WHO TALK ON THEIR CELL PHONES IN PUBLIC FOR ALL THE WORLD TO HEAR!

PEOPLE WHO TALK ON THEIR CELL PHONES IN PUBLIC FOR ALL THE WORLD TO HEAR!

What makes you think I want to hear your business?! I don’t care about the results of your last gynecologist appointment.   Nor do I want to hear a doctor discussing, in detail, a patient’s medical history, the patient’s name, and the details of the operation performed on said patient!  YES! These have both been broadcast LOUD and CLEAR on cell phones, in public with me and others within hearing distance. Can you say EEEEUUUW! and HIPAA PRIVACY RULES?!?!?   Since when do we have to answer the phone EVERY time it rings? Some things can wait.  Honest! And if you must, REALLY MUST talk, keep it down, please.  Thank you.

WHY IS EVERYONE IN SUCH A HURRY?!?!?

WHY IS EVERYONE IN SUCH A HURRY?!?!?

I am thoroughly bothered by people rushing to get – where?  Sometimes NOWHERE!  No patience standing in line..  No patience on the road.  No patience with your kids. No patience with each other. Rush, Rush, RUSH.  SLOW DOWN PEOPLE.  Have some consideration.  Smile, wave, say a kind word.  SLOW THE HELL DOWN!  (Sorry, but this really bugs me.)

BE KIND TO MOTHER EARTH.

BE KIND TO MOTHER EARTH.

Litterbugs!  You know who you are!  Use your ashtray. Don’t chuck things out the car window. And, put a bag in your car to collect your trash. Then put it IN THE GARBAGE. Don’t throw your empty wrappers NEXT to the trash can.  PUT THEM IN THE TRASH CAN!!!!  Treat the earth like your home.  Oh that’s right. IT IS YOUR HOME!  Teach your children well, people!

What makes you unique?

I feel pretty normal.  Nothing special.  Just another average Jo.

image

What would be your ideal birthday present, and why?

A date with my husband doing  anything.  I love spending time with him.  He makes me smile.

image

Which way does the toilet paper roll go? Over or under?

No brainer.  Over. It’s easier to find and rolls better.  Just sayin’.

(Can’t top Cee’s photo so,why try). 😉

Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?  I’m grateful that my mom’s feeling a little better this week.  And I’m looking forward to, well, ditto.

SHARE YOUR WORLD – 2013 WEEK 31

Time to share.  I love this challenge!  Visit Cee’s blog and see more of what people have to share, but before you do that…

Here’s this week’s list of questions.

Do you push the elevator button more than once and do you really believe it makes the elevator faster?

I push multiple times.  Especially if the door doesn’t close.  Now if I was smart, I’d press the Close Door button. Hellllllllllloooo!!!

If you had the choice between an RV, a sports car, truck, SUV, or a bicycle, which would you choose and why?

I’ve had a number of vehicles.  Once I leased a Mercedes.  It was gorgeous and fun, but I felt silly in it so when the lease was up, I traded it in and bought a VW bug.  That’s more me.  I missed my chance when I had the Mercedes, though.  I’ve always wanted a Porsche.  Even if just to test drive.  I think I would have been taken more seriously at the Porsche dealer if I drove in with the Mercedes and requested a test drive than if I drove in with my 10 year old Volkswagen and asked for one.  This is my vehicle now. It was necessary to go “new”.  The 10 year old is in that big car graveyard in the sky.  (This one’s for Frizz.  I told him I would get it into a post.) 🙂

Anyway, my answer is Porsche. Phew!

vw

If you HAD to change your name, what would you change it to?

I don’t know.  I like my name.  Without taking too much time to think, maybe Bella.

Is it more important to love or be loved?

Hmmmmmm.  If I had to choose one, it would be to love. If I had to chose.  What does John Cougar Mellencamp say, “hurts so good”.

ESE’S WEEKLY SHOOT & QUOTE CHALLENGE – LONELINESS

LONELINESS…

“Where you used to be, there is a hole in the world, which I find myself constantly walking around in the daytime, and falling in at night. I miss you like hell.”  ~ Edna St. Vincent Millay

At first it was difficult

But it got easier

But it got easier

I learned to manage

THURSDAY LINGERING LOOK AT WINDOWS – 5

As the sun sets and the battery-powered candles flicker and grow brighter, I sit and wait for the rumble of your car to ease up the drive. I’ve turned on the outside light. I try to check the clock, but it’s just a little too dark. No matter. The time just doesn’t matter. I wait. I’ll always wait.

WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLANGE – HAPPY

It’s odd that “happy” is the photo challenge for this week.  Ironic, I guess you might say.  It’s been a difficult week for our family because we lost one of our precious pets yesterday.

Marshall was a dear, sweet lug of a dog.  He was loving, and warm, and had the softest ears ever :-).

This was Marshmallow Man when he first came into our lives. That was a happy day, indeed.

Marsh spent 13 1/2 years with us.  He’s been a part of , and the cause of, many happy days.  Now we have memories, and as sad as it is that he’s physically gone, those memories will always bring a smile to my face.

I know the hurt lessens, but for right now “happy” is a little tougher than it was two days ago.  I’m kind of glad this was the challenge offered up by WordPress this week.  It gave me the chance to pay tribute to Marsh and to thank him for a whole lot of happiness.  Love you, Marshmallow Man.

“Happy” manifests itself in many ways.  Click here (WordPress) for more.  Enjoy.

For those of you who will stop by, like, comment, or just browse, thank you.  I appreciate the visits.  They make me happy. 🙂
