CEE’S ODD BALL CHALLENGE – WEEK 40

These are a few of the photos I figure fit the category.  Not too many posts they’d belong in, but Cee gives us a challenge where they can be displayed.  Some are cute, some are funny, some are just all about me.  And isn’t that what matters? 😉

Sit back, scroll, and smile. 😄

CEE’S WHICH WAY CHALLENGE – WEEK 8 – A WALK IN THE PARK

BARCLAY FARMSTEAD, CHERRY HILL NEW JERSEY

map of the woods

Last week was my first back to my ‘job’.  I am the caregiver for two bright, adorable, charming, rascals five days a week.  Since school hadn’t started yet, and since the weather is holding out – for now – we made a unanimous decision to walk to the park – so we could walk the park.  I can’t resist letting you in on a snippet of our conversation.  If this doesn’t make you smile, then I don’t know what will.  It went something like this…

Me:  Stop at the corner and wait for me, please.

Brother #1:  We need to stop, look, and listen.

Me:  Exactly.

Brother #1:  We need to not touch the wires (electrical wires that, in some cases, are brought down to the lawns and bolted in somehow – why on the ground I don’t know.)

Me:  You are absolutely right!  Why do you think that is?

Brother #1:  Momma says it’s because you’ll get dead.

Me: (smiling) And we wouldn’t want to get dead, would we?

Younger Brother: And because they are full of ‘lectrical kermits!

OK.  Do I have a great job or what?

OUR WALK

Decisions. Which way? They went right. I went left.

Decisions. Which way? They went right. I went left.

We are getting near the end of the path.  We talked about getting lost and what we would do if that happened.  Brother #1 was  not concerned.  Younger brother had found a very long stick.  Apparently, and according to Brother #1, it was a GPS stick.

The GPS Stick will guide us safely through the woods. Step back, Garmin!

It got us around and through and over and back.  We had the best time walking the woods in the park.  I hope you enjoyed a little of my day.  I know I do.  Every day!  How lucky am I? 🙂

CEE’S FUN FOTO CHALLENGE – SIGNS (OF VARIOUS KINDS)

Today, while my two young charges were attending reading hour at the Cherry Hill Library, I skulked out onto the floor to capture a few signs hawking books.  What better sign can you find!

Take note of the Elephant and Piggie sign.  If you have small children or grandchildren, go to your local library and pick one or more of these up.  They are hysterical and adorable.  Oh, by Mo Willems (no I didn’t leave out the ‘i” and mistype the “a”.  It really is  Willems.:-). )

And, speaking of my charges, this little guy is wearing a sign as well.

signs bugs

I had to include the cute little pouty lips.

Since we had a torrential downpour this morning, I put my bike ride off til I got home.  I didn’t really overwhelm you with too many fun fotos up top, so I thought I’d take my camera on my ride and point and click in the park.  I was amazed at the number of signs I came across.  These are just some.

This is actually the second stop sign on my route.  I thought the hydrant gave it a little more class. 🙂

Then comes the stop sign warning – telling you that a stop sign is up ahead.  HUH? (if you look way down the road a piece, you’ll see the actual stop sign this sign is referring to.  WHAT?

Believe it or not, there was another Do Not Enter sign to the right.  Can you say Overkill?

This sign is suppose to register your speed.  I guess I wasnt’ going all that fast.  I’m working on it!

A little retro here.  And there really is a pay phone under this sign.  It’s seen better days, but it works!

A few more rules and regs before leaving the park.  And none too soon.  This was a sign that it was time for me to go home!!!!

This one’s a little blurry and understandably so.  I was shaking in my boots when I shot this.  I’m a little leery of these guys.  It all started back in 1970, in the San Fransisco Bay area.  But that’s another story for another day.

Thanks for stopping by.  I appreciate each and every visit.

TRAVEL THEME – PARKS

Jeff and I were driving around today and you can imagine my excitement when I spotted this sign:

I asked my husband to pull over, and I think I might have jumped out of the vehicle before it came to a complete stop.  Ailsa, at wheresmybackpack, had thrown down the gauntlet and challenged us with her new Travel Theme: Parks, and I was getting nowhere fast.  I had stopped at a few places in my travels, but I just wasn’t happy with any of the photos I took, or the places we visited.  I think Jeff was starting to wish he was back at work, because I’ve been dragging him around, looking for a park that struck my finicky fancy. Garfield has nothing on me.  Finicky was turning into fanatical.  But, then there it was.  Shark Park.

My first thought was, “This is the park I’ve been looking for.”  My second thought was, “The grand kids are going to LOVE this!”  And after climbing around a little (while Jeff was waiting in the car playing Sudoku – smart move, hon.”) my third thought was, “How do I get outta here!”

Well, next week, the kids will be up from Georgia and Shark Park is going to be the place to attack, Jack!

Maybe it’s the Peter Pan in me, but I can’t wait until they get here.

Thanks, Alisa.  If it wasn’t for your challenge, I don’t know if I would have ever found this Shark Park!
