TUESDAY’S A-Z CHALLENGE – “D”

After the week we’ve had here, nothing would make me happier than to be sitting on one of these, iced tea in one hand, a good book in the other.  Come ooooooon summer!

“D” is for DECK

Our little deck at our little house at the Jersey Shore.

Either will do nicely.

SHARE YOUR WORLD – 2014 WEEK 4

Do you recharge your energy by going out with friends for a good time or by spending quiet time alone?

I definitely recharge better alone.  I don’t have friends.  (A slight exaggeration but not too far off) When Jeff’s not away with work, we gallivant which tires me out more than charges me up. So ALONE, sitting at my desk, on my electronic equipment.

What is the most number of blankets you’ve ever had on your bed?

I think three.  And I have been known to go to sleep with p.j.’s AND a robe.  Sexy, huh? (No photo. Say thank you. 😉 )

You are invited to a party that will be attended by many fascinating people you never met. Would you attend this party if you were to go by yourself?

I’d go and pretend I’m a paparazzi.  Yeah, that’s it!  I could pull that off.  Seriously?  No, I’d stay home and chew nails before I attended a party with people I never met.

Do you like talking to people on the phone? Or do you prefer voice mail or email?

Voice mail, email, text, western union, morse code – these are my communication of choice.  I could use that introverted poster on Cee’s blog to hang in my house.  See answer to question number 1. 😉

SUNDAY POST – FLOWERS

“Earth laughs in flowers”

Ralph Waldo Emerson

If you don’t keep flowers in your house, you might want to think about it.  I’ve always had plants, but lately I’ve been keeping flowers in our bedroom.  They are the first thing I see when I get up, and if Earth laughs in flowers, well, flowers make me smile – every morning.

Stop off and smell the roses at Jake’s blog by clicking on the icon below.  And smile. 🙂

TRAVEL THEME – WOOD

I suppose this is the obvious, but it was too dang cute to not use.  I’m guessing I won’t have the only tree photo in this challenge, but I’m betting on this one being one of  the cutest. (OK.  I may be a little bit biased.  I think my little charge is adorable.)

WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE: JUXTAPOSITION

Michele W. @ WordPress has suggested the topic of “juxtaposition” for this week’s photo challenge.  The word itself, I’m sorry to say, leads me to compare my first language – English – with my command of the language – needs work.  I’m not sure I really have the concept of juxtaposition down, but maybe you can tell me.

Here’s what I came up with.

Metal posters displayed one next to the other for your viewing pleasure and to entice you to pick and choose.

363

Bright Light exhibit at the Discovery Museum in Cherry Hill, NJ.  A place where kids can experience science and nature and the wonders of the imagination. (Don’t think I didn’t participate!)

And last, but most certainly not least, me comparing myself to a new acquaintance, to see how successful my weight loss efforts have been.

Now you tell me?  Juxtaposition or just jibberish?

TUESDAY’S A-Z CHALLENGE – “C”

Apparently we are in the grips of a polar vortex.  It doesn’t take a genius or a meteorologist to know polar vortex equals COLD.  My car is telling me this!

“C” is for COLD!  Which is just what it is around here.

The icicles hanging precariously from our gutters are another indication.

As COLD as it was, my son broke out the shovel and my husband, the snow blower.  Me?  I thought supervising – from inside a warm, cozy house – was the smart thing to do.

Cover up, people and stay warm.  I hear it’s not over yet.

TRAVEL THEME – SILVER

A trip to the airport will usually take you to the baggage claim.  That thing is all shiny and silver – like this:024

And then there’s the silver that you look for in the “lining” when it’s raining cats and dogs, and you’re wishing that the sun would shine.  That silvery gray blanket of clouds and rain might look a little like this:

023

So you might  hunker down and pull out a little silver(ware) to suck down some comfort food, in case that silver lining is taking too dang long.  It might look a little like this:

056

When the weather breaks, maybe you can take a ride in a little something that has a few silvery bits that look like this:

146

You might stop somewhere for a cup o’ joe and shop in a store that has a mannequin that shines all pretty and silver, like this:

No matter where you are or what you’re doing, I hope you find your silver lining today.

Shine on…

SHARE YOUR WORLD – 2014 WEEK 3

I’m sharing.  Compliments of Cee. 🙂

In what do you find the simplest of joys?

Sitting on my favorite bench, at the beach, reading, drinking coffee, chillin’.  Love it!

371

Jello or Pudding? And what is your favorite flavor?

Definitely pudding.  When I was pregnant with my son, many moons ago, I was allowed a 7 day hospital stay.  No there were no complications.  That’s just the way it was, back in the stone age.  You won’t see that happening today.  Anyway, I was given my first taste of butterscotch pudding and to this day pudding is a major comfort food for me.  Especially butterscotch.

Is there a language you would like to learn?

Simple.  English!!!!

Do you prefer juice or fruit?

Fruit.  Love it in all it’s forms – in all it’s glory.  Fruit, glorious fruit!  Nothing like it.
