WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE – WALL

Cracker Barrel Restaurant – one of my favorite (though probably not healthiest) places to eat.  I think it’s a nostalgia thing.  A good memory place.  Somewhere that reminds me of days gone by.

While driving down to Nashville, Tennessee Jeff and I saw our first Cracker Barrel.  That was many moons ago, and it has now become a vacation tradition.  Since I’m not a lover of flying, we have stopped at many a CB on our travels.

This morning I decided to grab a book and a few drawing materials, and I headed over to a local CB.  Here’s a look at those walls.

WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE – ORANGE YOU GLAD…

This week, Michele at WordPress asks for at least three photos that are dominant orange. I’m glad she said “at least” because I stink at rules and if she had said “only three”  I wouldn’t have been able to choose.  It’s not that they’re all that unique.  It’s just that I took the time to shot the pix and I like them all, so I’m using them all.  That simple.

Here goes orange…

And, just because it’s pretty and sunny and cheerful and ORANGE.

WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE – WARMTH

Warmth.  The unconditional love of a dog.

This is Rocky.  He’s 11 years old.  We think he’s a love, but if you came to our front door, you might not agree.  He’s very protective, to say the least. But he is also very devoted, caring, and VERY sweet – once you get to know him.  😉

Rocky is literally a junk yard dog.  We found him in Camden, NJ, yes, in a junk yard.  His dad was a giant of a dog, and very laid back.  His mom, not so much.  I don’t know if she was upset because someone was ogling her babies, or if she was just plain ornery, but she had one unpleasant disposition.  But Rocky was fluffy and little and cute and covered in ticks!  But that didn’t matter.  I fell in love.  So Rocky came home with us.   I spent some painstaking hours, over the next couple of days, cleaning him up.  And he cleaned up nice.  Now Rock gives us all the love he can muster.

He is chock full of warmth.

A week ago, Rocky had an operation.  Things appear to have gone well, but we’re not out of the woods yet, so keep your fingers crossed.

Love, caring, snuggles, and wet pup kisses.  He’s what “warmth” means to me.

Hoping you all ring in the new year with some warm snuggles too.  Happy Holidays.

WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE – CONVERGE

I took some liberties this week – I’ll attribute it to poetic license.

Poetic License – definition
noun
1.

license or liberty taken by a poet, prose writer, or other artist in deviating from rule, conventional form, logic, or fact, in order to produce a desired effect.
My desired effect was to showcase a rose that caught my eye, a Zentangle I created and felt fit the theme of the challenge, and a conglomeration of the two.
P.S.  I throw out that word “artist” with tongue in cheek.  🙂

You might notice some white spots in the black ink.  I could say I meant to do that.  Truth is I need a new pen – ROAD TRIP!

WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE – ANGULAR

ANGULAR

image

A structure in Barkley Farmstead in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.  I go here to walk, think, admire, observe.  I am almost always with my five year old charge.  I spend five days a week with this bright charming fellow.  Here is a snippet of my day.  I love my job.

HIM:  Why are there Chrisrmas wreaths hanging in stores before Thanksgiving?

ME: I don’t really know, bud.

HIM: I love Christmas.  I can’t wait.

ME: Don’t rush it, pal.

HIM: Do you know what I love about Christmas?

ME: No.  Tell me.

HIM: I love the presents.

ME: Me too.

HIM: And I love that I get to eat candy canes.

ME: Yup.

HIM: And I love the joy of family.  (No lie. He said that. Verbatim.)

ME: That’s a really nice thing to say.  I’m glad you feel that way.

HIM:  I can’t help it.  It’s so joy-able.  (Also verbatim.)  😉

THIS KID’S ANGLING FOR SOMETHING, WOULDNT YOU SAY?
